Working out drawing magnification

Formula method

When a one makes a drawing of a specimen, they need to ensure  its well distributed on the book so that the features are clear and distinct. Some specimen when examined using a magnifying lens, like the mosquito image provided are too small. The drawing of such a specimen therefore will be bigger than the actual size of the mosquito.

Its always important to indicate the drawing magnification, so that anybody looking at an illustration understands the actual size of the real organism.

Look at the images below, first coloured is assumed as the actual specimen while the second grey is the drawing illustration.

                                 

The second illustration is a magnified version of the smaller one. Such a drawing should have its size given in reference to the actual by how many times its larger than the actual one using the formula given below.
