Iron, Cobalt and Nickel are ferromagnetic materials and also next to each other in the periodic table. Other ferromagnetic metals include some alloys of rare earth metals and some naturally occurring minerals such as lodestone. The ferromagnetic metals can be made into magnets (magnetised).
