ACTIVITY 1

  1. Gravitation force

Have you ever wondered why objects fall towards the earth! or why the planets orbit around the sun? The video below will highlight on certain activities that demonstrate gravitational force. Watch the video and then answer the trivia.

TRIVIA

Fill in the missing information in the paragraph below

Gravity is a pulling force , it towards the earth. In outer space astronauts experience gravity they simply float around. On earth divers fall for fixed distance from a high point, but do all divers fall with the same speed? does their mass make a difference? When two balls of the same shape but different mass are at the same time from the same height above the ground, they land on the ground at time.  does not affect the rate at which the object falls. However when two balls of the same mass but different  are released from the same height, they hit the ground at different times. objects of different size experience different air resistance- (  between object moving in air and the particles of air). A feather and a bearing released at the same time in air from the same height hit the ground at times but in a vacuum(empty space) they hit the ground at the same time. Both the ball bearing and feather in a accelerate at the same speed since there is no air resistance.

Gravitation force  is the force of attraction between two bodies of given mass.

When objects are thrown up from or near the earths surface, they always fall downwards towards the ground. This is because of the force of attraction which the earth exerts on any body near its surface. This force which pulls the body towards the centre of the earth is called the gravitational force of the earth.

An object near the or on moon's surface also experiences the gravitational force of the moon. Each planet exerts its own gravitational pull on an object on it.

On earth's surface, gravitational force is the force of attraction between a body and the earth. The pull of gravity on the body towards the centre of the earth is called weight. The weight of an object varies on different planets because planets have different gravitational pull.
