3.COMPLEMENTARY COLOUR SCHEME

There are three types of complementary colour schemes;

a.Single complementary-This uses colours that are directly opposite on the colour wheel.e.g Orange and blue

b.Split complementary-In this colour scheme,instead of using colours that are opposite one another on the colour scheme,one selects a colour and combines it with the colours that are on eiher side of its complementary by placing a narrow-angled Y on the colour wheel. e.g the split complements of orange are blue-green and blue-violet.

c. Double complementary-This is a colour scheme where two colours which are next to each other on the colour wheel are used together with their complements.e.g orange and yellow-green with blue and blue-violet.

From the colour wheel, what are he split complementaries of ;

i. Blue

ii.Red-violet

4.TRIAD HARMONIES (EQUIDISTANCE HARMONIES)

In this colour scheme an equilateral triangle is placed on the colour-wheel to point three colours that form the triad.The three colours must be of equal distance from each other.e.g yello,.blue and red;red-orange,yellow-green and blue-violet.

Study the colour-wheel carefully and determine the the triad harmonies of red-violet;
