Further explanation: what is dramatic irony?

Dramatic Irony is when the audience or the reader is aware of something that a character in the text does not know. For example, you are watching a horror movie. You know that the serial killer is waiting for the main character in the cupboard, but the character doesn't know and unknowingly opens the cupboard door.
