BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The school school is located just at the centre of a renowned slum in Voi called Tanzania. The locals mainly engage in making illicit brews commonly known as chang'aa in order to earn a living. Surprisingly, most of the students are not aware that this process in brewing is based on a the concept of fractional disillation. RATIONALE Fractional distillation as a method of separating mixtures is a common practice in alcoholic industries. Students always wonder why its different than simple distillation. This lesson is designed to bring out a better understanding of the process.
