PROPERTIES OF WATER WAVES
Activity 4
Diffraction of waves.
- It occurs when waves go round an obstacle or through a slit.
- When the width of the aperture is nearly equal to the wavelength of the waves, the wave fronts emerge as circular waves.
- This time the wave fronts spread out in all directions from the aperture.
- The waves are said to be diffracted at the aperture.
