1. Area= 100mm^2 = 1 x 10^-4 m^2.   Pressure = force/area =100x 10^4 = 1 x 10^6 N/m^2.

2. (i)weight of the brick = 500/1000 x 10 = 5N. minimum area = 0.10 x 0.05 = 0.005m^2

  Greatest pressure p = F/min area =5/0.005 = 1000N/m^2.

  (ii) Pressure is least when area A is maximum.

         Therefore P = F/A = 5/ (0.20 x 0.10) = 250 N/m^2

4. A Lady with high hills exerts more pressure on the ground due the small area incontact with the ground while a man with flats shoes exerts less pressure on the ground due to bigger area incontact of his shoes with the ground.
