Case Study
Weldon,a form one student suspended a bar magnet on a stand. He did this several times. He learned that a magnet always resst in a north_south direction. He noted that a north pole always points at the North while a south pole always points at south.
In which direction does a North pole of a suspended bar magnet always points at?

A student to suspend a bar magnet on a stand :
Bring North pole of another bar magnet close to a North pole of a suspended bar magnet.
Bring a South pole of a bar magnet close to a North pole of a suspended magnet.
Bring a magnetic material in turn close to polarities of a suspended magnet .
Make the observations.
Like pole repel and unlike poles attract. This is the law of magnetism.
Repulsion is the surest way for testing polarity of a magnet, for it only happens in like poles of a magnet.
