RATIONALE

In poetry students are unable to hear the voice of the author because they are waiting for the biographical information that they believe will unlock the meaning of the poem; they lack the confidence needed to interact independently with the text.  This behaviour has made it difficult for some students to decipher the most crucial component in appreciating poetry. This content will make it easier for you to understand Tone and Mood, which play a major role in understanding a poem.
